If you can't see the worth of playing a mortal in a Film noir setting, go watch Casablanca again, or go read some Batman comics. One man, or one woman, can make a difference and he doesn't always need super powers to do it. Sure any common or garden variety Werewolf can take your head off without breaking a sweat and the vampires can turn your train of thought into a pretzel, but if you've annoyed one so much that it goes for you in public you deserve to exit stage left. Sodium Noir is a game of social interaction and story telling and playing the underdog is just as fulfilling as donning all those God like powers. If you have the balls for the challenge?

THE ANUBI

The Anubi, the 'Protectors of the Dead', are the Ghoul elite, protectors of the Prince and the Primogen. Universally blood bound to those luminaries they enjoy a life of luxury and respect, but that can end mighty quick when something threatens the Camarilla leaders. Their duties include supporting the Sheriff, as well as driving and escorting members of the Primogen around the city. A large contingent live at Gotham Towers and serve the Prince directly.

Anubi are expected to be capable warriors and skilled fighters, filling a role best described as supernaturally enhanced body guards and security staff. They receive regular infusions of Blood, the combined Blood of the Prince and Primogen. All their needs, and the comforts of family members, are seen to by the Prince and they have access to every modern comfort.

THE BASARAB REVENANT LINE

Dusk Industries is a massive edifice both physically and metaphorically. At its core are the Mortal descendants of the Company Founder, the Basarab line of Revenants. These men and women have little resemblance to the awful Basarab presented in Transylvania by night, they are a long standing tradition in the Spikeyverse and are allied with the ancient Ordres Draconis that gave their most famous descendant his title of Dracula.

Membership of this ancient family grants all the usual Revenant benefits and drawbacks, and the Brujah Vampires who hold the position of Regent utilise their thralls in mysterious and unguessable plots. They are repulsed by various warding herbs and stones including Garlic, wolfsbane and Coral. They are expected to follow a rather archaic code of honour and behaviour, and can expect an arranged marriage to advance the bloodline.

THE ROMANY

The Romany of Gotham are both blessed and cursed by the presence of a millennia old Vampire. The Harlequin is hugely protective of the settled Romany in Little Egypt and no intelligent Supernatural would risk his displeasure by interfering in their lives. This protection has lead to an unusually large population of Gypsies in Gotham, enough for a tiny district to be considered a Gypsy ghetto. On the other hand the Harlequin considers all Romany as 'his people' and those who do not follow his ideal of the Romany way are in for trouble.

Characters from this ethnic group might well be happily entrenched the Harlequins criminal empire, or his more savoury establishment. In contrast they might be members of the Little Egypt community trying their best to stay under his radar. Of course, anyone who knows me, knows that I'll give Romany Characters a fun ride!! -;)
