The dreams here are fever dreams. The plebeian dream of rising to middle management or the Stripper dreaming of a catwalk career. Artists prefer the media of black and white photographs and Munch style pain to flowers and babies. The Changelings live in a Bitter sweet world recovering from the horror of the accordance wars. The fairground on the Isle of crabs is the main Unseelie freehold and is currantly undergoing refurbishment, a new spring after the winter of its own demise. The only other freeholds of note are Raindog's bar in downtown Gotham, a home from home for lowlifes, loosers and and the Lightless Court of the Sluagh.
The Seelie prefer the uptown or the suburbs, the Cities dark Heart and the Isle of Crabs belongs to the Unseelie. The sting of the night of long knives and the war between the Sidhe and the commoners still stings deep in Gotham and trust is hard to come by.
Changeling being my favourite of the systems, I have one or two things to say on some of the Kiths. If new Kiths float your boat, if so check out the gossamer winged Nevers and the non Adhene Fir-Bholg pages. Also, the Asura (the other Kith who share the Naraka court) will soon be available.
THE INANIMAE
As we have a member of the sessile court, namely our own Jonesboro, I decided to check up on few rules and conflicts. Inanimae are slightly different to your Usual fae and what might work against a Changeling will not necessarily effect the Sessile.
Rather than having an automatically generated Mortal seeming, the Inanimae create a Husk for themselves to 'inhabit'. Those with no Husk look like weird magical creatures and are in big trouble, those with high rating can pass for human to all but the most detailed examination. The Husk background can be raised in game because, as described on page 34 of the Inanimae book, the Sessile get better at crafting human looking husks.
To detect the Inanimae or their Anchor requires much more than the mundane perceptions. Even fellow Changelings are not immediately able to see the Sessile for what she is. While a Changelings can use kenning to sense glamour, and might thus detect that the Inanimae is being linked to the Dreaming in some way, she might still have no means of detecting what that link is. Changeling's need to compare their Kenning to the Inanimae's Husk rating and only if they can match or beat that score will they see the Sessile for what she truly is.
Shapeshifters and Garou who have gifts specifically linked to sensing the spirit-world will be allowed to compare their perception and Primal Urge (or other specific traits dependant on Gift) to the Inanimae's Husk + Stealth score. Mages with either Spirit 1 (the Dreaming) or Prime 1 (glamour) can attempt to perceive the true nature of the Inanimae or her Anchor and must compare Perception + Awareness with the Changelings Husk + Stealth, but only if they are already aware that the Fae exist. A scant few Vampires who know about the Fae can detect them with Auspex 2 at a +2 difficulty and may attempt a Intelligence + Faerie Lore Roll to translate the flickering lights and colours as Dream-borne. Level 1 Mytherceria will reveal something Glamorous about the Inanimae but it will take a faerie Lore of at least 4 to decipher that into recognising a Sessile. Finally the Ravnos who have mastered Level 8 Chimestry, Psuedo blindness, can see the Dreaming (and thus the Inanimae's Glamour) with al the abilities as a normal Changeling.
