Body, remember not only
how much you were loved,
not only the beds you lay on,
but also those desires glowing openly
in eyes that looked at you,
trembling for you in voices.
- Constantine Peter Cavafy, Body, Remember
Description
Straight out of any film or book, the Chaste Dragon is a opulent and high class knocking shop. It has a small bar downstairs, 25 rooms spread over 5 floors and all the functions of any discreet hotel. The décor has a distinctively Oriental feel, with Persian rugs and gold decal, mixed with hanging silks and canvas to delude guests into believing they are in a Sheik's tent. Outside, a pair of huge imported palm trees stand either side of the steps leading up to the double doors and the comfortable reception area. Here, a small bar sometimes hosts a piano and singer but has no room for anything more. Visitors are free to gather here, drink imported wines and smoke otherwise unavailable cigars. Above this is a balcony designed to look like something from a western movie and the 'staff' of the Dragon waits here to attract the attention of the Clientele. Almost hidden amongst the plush sofas and chez lounge a set of stairs lead both up to the rooms of the Dragon's 'Hotel' and down to the Cellar and Private rooms for the owner.
Typical of a Bordello, many of the rooms are designed to suit a certain theme such as the Dungeon, the Sheiks harem, the paddling pool room, the Cine reel room, the pole dancing room and the squaws Tepee. The roof, though overshadowed by larger buildings, still catches a great deal of sun and the Girls are often found up there topping up on tans and relaxing with umbrella festooned cocktails. Beneath the Dragon are Panic's rooms and the 'Chantry' itself. Since evolving from slave to master, the Mage has squandered much on comfort and splendour. His boudoir is expansive, once serving as a dormitory for the Nephandi, and his study is full of books bound in questionable hides. Opium and hookah pipes share the table space with silver tea sets and bowls of candy. Behind a series of hidden doors a stairwell leads down to a vast chamber that once housed the Nephandi rituals and offerings. The gauntlet in this vault is almost imperceptible and with a few simple rotes can be utterly dismissed. The walls of the chamber are lined with Obsidian and basalt, with powerful sigils etched out and lined with Jade, silver, gold and other semi precious materials useful in spell casting.
Atmosphere
The Chaste Dragon is built over a powerful node with a Primordial resonance
The Mage, Panic, has set up a safe venue for the oldest profession in the world. Detractors may call it an opium den or a house of Sodom, but to its clients, it is a congenial and comfortable palace of escapism. A harem away from the morals of the real world where freedom actually means something. Panic is friends with the Vampire known as the Harlequin and is often included in his schemes. As such, he has become known among the mages as a fence and a source for illicit items.
Story
Hell hath no limits, nor is circumscribed
In one self place; for where we are is hell,
And where hell is there must we ever be.
- Christopher Marlowe, The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus
For as long as Gotham has stood, the House of the Dragon served as a Nephandi node. The foul practices of the Mages worked undetected with their poisoned node and worshipped their Dark masters. Around 15 years ago, the currant leader of the caul brought a young Orphan boy with a powerful but untapped Avatar, called Peter into the whorehouse as a diversion. Sharing the youth with his depraved coven members. When not being raped or tortured by the Nephandi, Peter spent his time with the whores reading the texts left around by the Mages. He became skilled in the knowledges of the Hidden whom men call Demons. After a time, he began making his own deals with them. When the allied Forces of the Nephandi and the Ba'ali made a move on the Mages of the two tradition Chantries in Gotham, Peter made his move. The allies he had made in Hell, enemies of the Nephandi's masters, crossed the seventh seal and consumed everyone who had ever harmed the boy. Gaining greater power for themselves and cutting short the Demon spawns move to drag Gotham into Hell with them. As quickly as the slaughter of this momentous night began, so it ended. Half of Gotham's Supernaturals had been extinguished, but the half that remained had no idea they had been saved by a teenaged boy.
