Montoya

A prince being thus obliged to know well how to act as a beast must imitate the fox and the lion, for the lion cannot protect himself from traps, and the fox cannot defend himself from wolves. One must therefore be a fox to recognize traps, and a lion to frighten wolves.

Montoya
Race Vampire
Splat Ventrue
Title Prince

Physical Description
Montoya’s Spanish heritage is obvious in his dark looks and chiselled jaw. A tall, stocky man with a weathered face, Montoya dresses in the latest style of designer suits and hand man leather shoes.

Personality
Montoya effects a bored persona the majority of the time, with little animation. In truth this is an attempt to be seen as cold and harsh, an extention of his utter disdain for the rest of the world. His natural skills at leadership and diplomacy are usually hidden by this simple vanity but once backed into a corner Montoya displays the mettle that allowed him to asume the throne of Gotham. No other man, alive, dead or undead, is so adept at adjusting thier cufflinks with a yawn and making it look like a docker rolling up his sleeves.

Montoya is a strong and capable Prince. His domination of the Business community in Gotham gives him far reaching powers and makes him a popular son of the Ventrue Clan. His two friends Ettienne St Claire and Christoph Bennett help him keep a tight reign on all of the money and power in Gotham, and none of them mind leaving the street level action to their esteemed rivals in the Sabbat. Beyond that, Montoya has a natural gift for trade off’s and awarding loyalties. He can instinctively determine what it is that a negotiator wants and offers it to them. Those who support Montoya are never unhappy with their lot, and those who cross him don’t live to tell the tale.

Story
The son of a Spanish conquistador, Sebastian Estoban Hernandez Montoya knew the worth of enslaving the local populace and turning their toil into profit. It was a practice that made his father rich and him even richer. The position of Gothemburg in the bay made it a prime location to extort money from the supply ships, Montoya and his native workforce became lords of the east coast and drew the attention of the Ventrue behind the Spanish and Dutch shipping companies.

By the age of 28, Montoya was brought into the patricians fold and given the chance to help hold the reins of the growing city. His sire, Solomon Van Deering, intended for the brash young man to be his agent on the east coast. The ennui of age and the war with the Sabbat was a blessing in disguise for the young Montoya.

Nobody is really sure how much Montoya had to do with the death of his sire and his siblings at the hands of the Sabbat war parties, but it is excepted as fact that Montoya and Santiago had met several times before the attack came. The unprecedented treaty that was drawn up afterwards seems to add weight to this theory. Whatever the truth may be, Montoya holds half the city in his strong grip and manages to conduct Camarilla business with the very wolves of old at his door.
