Story
[Early history CENSORED]
Growing to prominence as both a messenger and an emissary among the Garou nation, Damien’s travels took him far and wide. His love for Egypt never truly lessened and he would often take sabbaticals from the endless demands of his Tribe and his people to spend time on digs with his adopted father, Professor John Carter. His father was fascinated the links between Ancient Egypt and South America, while Damien had hopes of proving the tales told by the Silent Striders of the Romany once being exiled from the land beside the Nile.
Damien was able to chase after leads at the drop of a hat and proved invaluable to the professor in his research. But the deeper he looked and the more contact he re-established with his Romany Kin Folk, and the more duties the Garou demanded of him, the harder it became for him to find time for his mentor.
Eventually while the Professor was working on the first dig in Par-Bast, Damien’s Tribe introduced him to a group of Romany that ran a small circus. Under the guise of this travelling show was a movement of supernaturals who took the ties of blood to be more vital than the ties of Clan, tribe or sect.
Behind CirKhaos was an enigmatic face dimly remembered from a past life, Constantine the Harlequin. Although Damien’s memory was too flawed to remember details, he knew that the two of them had known each other once and had been friends. They had worked for a terrible master helping to free his country from Tyranny in return for the freedom of the Romany people he had enslaved as they journeyed through Romania. Damien found a home in CirKhaos he had never thought possible and together with his people they travelled across America following the dictates of their secret cause and yet still acting as a messenger for his Tribe. But like all things, it could not last.
The First Blow came from his own mistake. Damien broke the litany when he fell in love with A Garou sent by the tribe for him to mentor. This Silent Strider Girl, Kisses-the-moon-for-luck, was his greatest weakness. No matter how hard he tried to teach her patience, she wanted it all now. She found friends among the despicable ‘eaters of the dead’ and when Damien discovered her crimes, rather than drag her before the Elders for judgement, he allowed himself to be seduced and the two became lovers. This was the go on for many months until the pair finally fell out when Damien discovered that Kiss had lied about ending her foul practices. She was still conducting the rite of Dormant Wisdom and it had cursed her. Kiss came down with a virulent disease called Kuru, caught from eating the parasites in rotten human brain tissue. Damien sought to cure her by dragging her to Erubus but was defeated by Kiss and two other girls, Nekhen and Columbine. With the girls gone, Damien and the Harlequin became reckless and foolhardy. The result of this cost the Ravnos his soul and the Garou his only sanctuary.
While in Boston, a Mage of the Technocracy tricked the Harlequin with stories of his Wife Columbine, a source of Weig so powerful that a follower of Paradox could not let it stand and because of her advanced age, with his own decency, into causing the deaths of thousands of Mortals. The Horror and the guilt of that event changed the Harlequin from Mischievous fool of eight centuries into the Malicious trickster he is today. The Harlequin, in despair, returned to Gotham and left the Circus to its own devices.

After almost three years apart, Damien returned to the Garou nation with a saddened heart. He returned to duties as a messenger and was courted by members of the eldest circles. Damien’s renown as a messenger grew and so did his knowledge. The Elders shared secrets with the vagabond that proved to him that the secrets the Circus carried were known by others. Once taken into the confidence of the Garou’s secret government he found he was actually working for the same cause as a Silent Strider Garou and a Romany Phral. Things would have been perfect for Damien but the demands of the warriors of Gaia were harsh. His only desire for himself was the chance to visit with his father again. But the elders could not spare him. There was always one more message to carry, one more Vampire to destroy, one more Mage to barter with or Wraith to interrogate. Damien repeated his request time and again, but was denied every time. Eventually, bloody and beaten by the Master of the Challenge at a Silver Fang Caern, Damien snapped. He stormed out of the Caern and vowed that the Wyrm could take them all for all he cared. He was going to visit his father and if they couldn’t get up from sitting around getting old while he was never to sleep in the same bed twice they should find a new messenger. The insulted Elders declared him Ronin and washed their hands of their most loyal agent.
Damien’s visit with his father sparked the search for one of John Carter’s earlier wards, Couron Lazarus. This Romany Tomb Robber had disappeared in America and the Professor was worried. Not wishing to see his father in pain, Damien swore he would find the young man. And so he did. The man had, however, crossed over and become one of the Undead. A Member of Clan Ravnos no less. Finding the boy and his circle of friends was the last piece of the jigsaw Damien’s fractured mind needed to reclaim the memories of his past incarnations for among the Vampires was the Reincarnation of his lost Love Nephthys. Now called Teya and suffering under the curse of the same hated Clan whose embrace had separated them millennia ago.
[CENSORED]
Now, summoned by an ancient Artefact and a promise made in another Life, Damien has travelled back to Gotham to watch a cub of the Bastet while she discovers her true nature. All the pain and unfinished business between the Circus and the Harlequin has dragged Damien back into the pit of darkness that is Gotham and keeps him from the side of his true love back in Chicago. Although the secret councils of elders consider Damien one of their greatest agents, the Garou nation as a whole consider him Ronin. The hands of Ahroun seeking Glory in his death are stayed by the Elders, but they cannot protect him forever.
