REGENERATION
The Nyctalus regenerate exactly the same as the Garou.

RAGE AND GNOSIS AND BLOOD POOL
Although Nyctalus share the Garou's Rage and Gnosis, they do not share all of the benefits. They cannot use Rage to heal in combat or to recover from Incapacitating wounds. All other benefits are as standard, including gaining extra actions.

In addition to Rage and Gnosis pools, The Vampire Tribe of Nyctalus also gain certain benefits from their blood pool.. Blood points may be spent to heal a non aggravated wound, to take an extra action or to replace Rage or Gnosis to power a Gift. Homid born Vampires may spend 2 Blood points per turn, Chiroptera may spend 1 and Metis 3.

BEGINNING RENOWN: Fruit bats begin with 2 Succour and 1 wisdom, Insectivores with 1 honour and 2 wisdom, Vampires have three points to spend as they please.

RANK: All Nyctalus begins at Rank 1

BACKGROUNDS As the Garou.

SILVER
As children of the Night and of Lunar, Nyctalus are just as susceptible to Silver. It causes Aggravated wounds and the mere presence of silver is enough to effect Gnosis. Use the standard rules from Werewolf: the Apocalypse (whichever edition you prefer) concerning silver.

TOTEMS
BAT
BAOBAB, tree of life - healing, health and food.
In Africa the baobab tree is considered the tree of life. It is food and shelter to many animals including man. The baobab tree is sustained by the Egyptian fruit bat.
DRAGON - stealth 2, honour, flight 3
BUDDHA
THE CORN KING - in his many guises, including Odin, Jesus Christ, The Horned God

Habitat
The Nyctalus are distributed throughout Europe, the Tropical and oriental areas, Austrilasia and through out the southern American continent, with almost no remaining representatives in Northern America, those who do live here are found mainly in Texas, along the Mississippi and in the rocky mountains. Ku-ring-gai Flying-fox Reserve in the northern Sydney suburb of Gordon, Australia, is an important colony site for grey-headed flying-foxes Pteropus poliocephalus. The flying foxes or fruit bats were almost massacred, but they have many Homid Kinfolk. The same is true in South east Asia, where a group of Asian Mages built a Buddhist monastery near some Bat caves. These caves once contained huge numbers of Bat Kinfolk but the nest is now in decline. The cave housing 6 species of mainly insectivores has been the property of the monastery since 1980. Kinfolk villagers collect guano as fertilizer and generate $100, 000 a year. East African bat Kinfolk pollinate the Baobab, the so called tree of life which supports 100's of different animal species, furthering our mission in Her name.

FORMS

Back when the world was young we lived in closely defined family units. All our Kin knew each other and one bloodline of Homid kin was tied genetically and socially to a particular species of Bat. If it wasn't for our ability to cross the gauntlet and travel the Umbral paths we would have never known the diversity of our breed until our human cousins managed to conquer the oceans. Over the years these ties have frayed and as humanity has spread across the globe it is not unknown of for a Nyctalus to be born far from his natural habitat. Those who carry the blood of the Pipestrel will always do so and so should the kinfolk travel far from their racial birthplace and then be blessed with a Nyctalus child, he will still have the form of the Pipestrel in his Chiropteran form.

Life is difficult for an immigrant Werebat to find that his Chiroptera form is the only member of his species for thousands of miles. He cannot gain the communion he needs from other bats, because the local species will not accept or nurture an outsider and he will quickly fall to despair and isolation. For this reason we tend to seek out our own kind and thus you will almost never see a Nyctalus of the Fruit bat species living permanently among the British and European families.

HOMID - No Change
PTEROPODIDAE - GLABRO As well as the increase in general body mass, a marked flattening of the nose and enlargement of the ears and lengthening of the fingers, together with a webbing of the hands makes the Pteropodidae form far less attractive than the Hispo of most other Shapeshifters.
NOCTULE (NOCTULA) - CRINOS The fearsome Noctule or Man-bat form of the Nyctalus belies the Gentle nature of these gardeners of Gaia. Their arms stretch to amazing lengths, twice as long as homid, while the lower three digits of each hand lengthen to become the struts from which skin hangs to support fully functioning wings. The Noctules ears become huge and sensitive while the nose flattens out and spreads across the face to resemble the type of bat from which tribe the Nyctalus comes. The remaining finger and thumb do still have a much depleted dexterity, and many Werebats can still open doors or handle objects as normal.
PTEROPUS - HISPO Named after the Largest bat [wingspan -5 feet, weight 2lb] These monster bats resemble nothing out of nature so much as the flying lizards of prehistory in size, much in shape they are just larger versions of their Chiroptera form. Whether the Nyctalus is from the Marriannis or a smaller tribe, the Pteropus form is always of a similar size.
CHIROPTERA - LUPINE Depending on the Nyctalus' tribe, the Bat form could be of any type or size from a giant Marriannis fruit bat to the tiny Pipestrel of Europe.

RACIAL TRAITS

Bats can fly at 5kmph in total darkness, this speed increases when the Nyctalus is in larger forms. In (crinos), (hispo) and (lupus) bats are incredibly good climbers and need only make rolls at difficulty 3.

Echolocation
Though the story of Bats being blind is a myth, most are capable of utilizing echolocation. Like a dolphin's sonar, a bat will emit high pitched pulsing sounds from its mouth or nose. The sound bounces off of obstacles and food and echoes back to the bat giving them information about the size, shape, identity and direction of the object. As a bat zeroes in on the pray, the echo pulses increase and the hunt is refined. Using echolocation, a bat can located food as thin as a human hair 1mm above water surface.

The Nyctalus can use this in a verity of ways in Combat and in Stealth. Adding 3 dice to both rolls. It also grants the Merit blind fighting. The bat deciphers its echolocation in mere tenths of a millisecond. So long as the Nyctalus can emit a screech, she will instantly have a total picture of her surroundings. This makes surprise almost impossible and negates modifiers gained from attacking from behind. It also makes it incredibly difficult to hide from the Nyctalus, they are almost constantly aware of their immediate surroundings. A skill that has helped the Nyctalus survive the depredations of Savage Garou and insidious Undead. Storytellers may wish to call for perception roles to use this ability, but most of the time, it should be arbitrary.

ORGANIZATION
The Flying Foxes ensure that the forests and their inhabitants survive with fertility skills learnt from both the Mokole and the Gurahl. The Insectivores still watch and collect knowledge, hoarding every scrap of useful information and the Vampires search in places where even the Garou fear to tread. A few of the other breeds are still around, the Amazonian fish eaters aid the Balaam in the forest war, the Rosetta bats search for lost lore among the jungles dead cities, while ghost faced bats deal with the darker spirits in order to gain secrets. One night, when the Wyrm is ascendant, the others will need our knowledge to fight back and our tended forests in which to hide. We will be pleased to share both, in Gaia's name. Even if our sisters have forgotten us and our brothers hate us, we fight on in Her name, we tend, we listen and we survive.
